Guidelines for writing symposium abstracts
All symposium contributors are requested to provide an abstract of their presentation or poster, suitable for inclusion in the DSTG Newsletter.
Please be aware that any abstract not written in accordance with these guidelines may be rejected. Please note there is a limit on the number of presentations that can be accepted. If accepted, you are expected to register for the conference within two weeks to confirm that you will be presenting at the conference.
The abstract should be word-processed in Microsoft Word format.
Title: Maximum of 10 words
For the authors please include:
- name of author and co-authors
- institution(s) of author and co-author(s)
- contact email address
The abstract should not exceed 200 words and should be capable of standing alone, briefly summarising the main points to be made in the original presentation. It should not be personalised, so expressions such as “I said that…..” should not be used. The abstract should not contain references, abbreviations, tables or illustrations.
The abstract should include the following:
- Objectives
- Methods
- Research
- Conclusions/Discussion.
You should state that there are no conflicts of interest.
If you have received funding for your research, the funding organisation should be stated.
Please also indicate your preferred mode of presentation, ie Verbal or Poster or Either

DSTG reserves the right to reject any abstract which does not follow the above guidelines, and to edit abstracts to enhance clarity and style or for any other reason.
